Worker's Romania statement in Solidarity with the people of Artsakh, condemning the brutal attack of Azerbaijan and its genocidal policy
The Worker's Romania Association meeting today, Sunday, 24th September 2023, at its head office in Bucharest, Romania:
FURTHER TO:
The very serious situation of the Azeri attack against Artack, sustained and even materially supported in their bloody adventure by Erdogan's regime and, most probably, also by Israel, which, according to the latest data, meant that 200 people were killed (10 civilians, including 5 children, among them) and more than 400 were injured (40 civilians, including 13 children). According to the Artsakh Ombudsman, more than 10,000 people were evacuated from 16 settlements captured by the Azerbaijanis, several thousand cannot find their relatives, following the blockade installed since December 2022 in the so-called Lachin Corridor that connects Artsakh and Armenia by Azerbaijan, which isolated 120,000 people, who, for this reason, have been experiencing a bloody large-scale humanitarian crisis which takes shape in an almost absolute lack of fundamental basic supplies necessary for survival, such as food, medical supplies and other essential elements way before the 19th of September brutal attack.
CONSIDERING:
1) That these acts of aggression by Azerbaijan constitute a severe violation of International Law and the Trilateral Agreement on the complete ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artack)
2) That in this sense the former Prosecutor of the International Court of Justice, Dr. Luis Moreno Ocampo, has spoken out through his expert opinion on the matter, in a detailed report dated August 7, 2023, denouncing that it is being developed and I qupote “a genocide against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artack), under Article II, (c) of the Genocide Convention”, which refers to “deliberately inflicting living conditions on the group calculated to bring about its physical destruction”…” The Hunger is the invisible weapon of genocide. Without immediate dramatic change, this group of Armenians will be destroyed within a few weeks.”
THE WORKER'S ROMANIA ASSOCIATION
CONDEMNS the war aggression and genocide based on the illegal territorial expansion carried out by force by the State of Azerbaijan against Artsakh and the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Armenia, in contravention of International Law.
EXPRESSES its solidarity with the people of Artsakh in the face of the brutal attack, which constitutes an act of flagrant violation of International Public and Humanitarian Law.
REITERATES ITS COMMITMENT AND MOST SINCERE AND MILITANT SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF ARMENIAN ARTACK, based on the tradition of solidarity that Romanian people have always had with the people of Armenia.
